Connor Drinan has become one of the best players in the world over the past five years. But he’s always been famous for one of the most memorable bad beats in history. Now that he’s a WSOP champion, he might become known for something else. Connor Drinan won a $100,000 bracelet prop bet against Daniel Negreanu by winning the final event of the 2020 World Series of Poker Online.

The poker pro has won five SCOOP events

This year’s Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) has seen many of the most renowned players in the world, and, while many of them got close to winning events, pro player Connor Drinan has collected his fifth title in this series. He is on his way to make history in poker with his last win after defeating his opponents sitting at the seven-max final table and taking home the top prize of $322,264. This event had a total prize pool of $1,590,000, which came from the 159 entries registered for the tournament.

“Not one for tweeting about poker tournament wins but feels somewhat mandatory after shipping scoop #5 of the series in the plo 10k main,” said his Twitter post. Drinan did not start winning at first; actually, the chip lead was mainly for Linus Loeliger since there were only 54 players remaining and, later, it switched between Jen Kyllonen and Joao Vieira. For this event, only 18 players were going to be cashing out, so many players did not even see a return on their investment. Drinan’s moment came after he scored a great play and busted one of the best players still alive in the tournament, Ben Tollerene, who finished eighth. By the time there were only six players standing, the title could have been anyone since Drinan had the chip lead, but his advantage was not that big in comparison to the rest of the opponents.

After three players were left in the table (Drinan, Vieira and Kyllonen), they might have thought that it would be quick; however, the tournament extended for four more hours. The first two hours ended up with Vieira being busted by Drinan, and then he started a battle survive and win since, at some point during the last two hours, it looked like Kyllonen was the one getting closer to the title.
